The short version
DeductBook exists to keep your donation records. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't use your records for anything except showing them back to you and the people you invite.
Device-only mode (no account)
Everything you enter, including receipt photos, is stored in your own browser on your own device. Nothing is sent to us. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it, which is why the app offers backup files. We cannot see or recover device-only data.
Household accounts
If you sign in, your donation entries and receipt files are stored on servers we rent from Supabase, hosted in the United States, so you can open them from any device and share them with your household. Access is limited by database rules to the people who are members of your household. Receipt files are private; links to them expire within an hour.
We store your email address to sign you in and to send sign-in links. We don't send marketing email. Sign-in links are sent through Resend.
What we can see
To run the service we can access the database that holds household records, for example to fix a problem you report. We don't browse records otherwise, and we don't share them with anyone except as required by law.
Your control
You can export everything at any time as a backup file or CSV. You can delete entries and receipts yourself. To delete a household account entirely, use the Support page; we remove the household's records and files.
Cookies and analytics
The app uses browser storage for your records and settings. We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when the page loads.

DeductBook organizes records and explains IRS rules in plain English. It doesn't prepare or file returns and doesn't guarantee any deduction.
